Scatec Solar, the global solar energy provider based in Oslo and Regensburg, has started the construction of a 2.5 MW photovoltaic plant in Utscheid, near the German border to Luxembourg. The completed plant, to be grid connected in August this year, will produce in excess of 2.3 million kWh annually, enough to cover the electricity needs of more than 600 families.
- We are very pleased to have won the public tender to build this PV plant, Raymond Carlsen, CEO of Scatec Solar said. – This is proof that we have the competitive capabilities to deliver high quality, commercially sound projects even in a narrow time frame, Mr. Carlsen said.
The project is developed by COPCON, and Scatec Solar will design, build, and commission the plant as well as perform regular maintenance of the finished PV park. The plant will utilize more than 10,600 REC modules and a number of SMA inverters providing a total effect of 2.497 MWp. Compared to traditional power production, this PV plant will represent CO2 savings of approx. 1.4 million kg per year. The municipality of Utscheid will operate the plant themselves and produce more electricity than their 400 inhabitants consume on a yearly basis.
